- I baked lemon cake with icing, and it was quite delicious despite the slimy texture.
- Amanda Palmer’s new album Theatre is Evil was released. I can’t listen to an album the whole way through the first time; I have to familiarise myself with each individual song, so I’ve yet to actually hear the whole thing! Still, my distaste for anything that sounds even slightly 80s-ish meant I was initially skeptical when I first heard snippets on the kickstarter video. I felt like a Bad Fan, but every new song I listen to becomes my favourite. Even Grown Man Cry is like right up there, which on the Kickstarter video had me all, “Da fuq is this”. Am quite pleaaased.
- I discovered that one of my favourite law lecturers also likes Amanda Palmer and follows her on Twitter. It’s so perfect.
- The release of Feeple60 Miyu! To everyone who has ever sold their Delf Miyu with dubious yellowing at a ridiculous price, or tried to sell their Miyu with lots of clothes and junk no one else wants – I don’t need you anymore, Fairyland has my back. Now I get superior posing and all the optional hands I could possibly want. The new body is far from beautiful, but it’ll be wearing clothes so whatevs. ;D Oh Fairyland, I love you so.
- The studio I looked at earlier this year for 2013 pops up on TradeMe for $20 less (HAH). I wants it.
- Joining Lumosity, which my doctor recommended because she’s into neuroplasticity. It has games that are supposed to strengthen your brain in relation to areas like memory and speed. AND WELL. I’ve had my strengths and weaknesses confirmed. Much as I may be super at problem-solving and flexibility, it’s useless teamed with my weak attention span and slow brain. Hurrr!
Okay we are all enlightened now about my happenings yes.
In mid-April my course was still going well for me, so to celebrate getting through the semester without any glitches I ordered a new BJD. Obviously I hadn’t finished the semester yet, but I was that confident. She arrived the day before my exam… which happened to be the day of my doctor’s appointment.
I handed my doctor something I’d written the night before detailing my woes, and as I sat sobbing in her office (which is fairly routine at this point), she eventually said “This is really crippling you, isn’t it”. It’s probably safe to assume I didn’t make that exam. Instead I have a referral letter to a psychiatrist at Student Health in Dunedin. I thought I was so close to being finished with this stuff, but noooo.
Enough of the whingefest, here’s the doll I don’t deserve. She’s a Fairyland Chloe Minifee. Cutie legs, large bust (YEAH GURL), with #6 hands (and extra #8 hands).
I remember the first time I ever saw a Chloe. October last year I clicked to look closer at a faceup on Andreja’s flickr, and in a thumbnail saw her own Chloe and WOAH WOAH HOLD UP SHE’S AMAZING. Minifee Chloe = <3 <3 <3. Even pictures of little blank faces slay me. Chloe is without a doubt my favourite mould. She’s adorable. :3
Maybe it’s cos I was a gloomy zombie when I was opening her box, but as I pulled out this particular Chloe I could only think: “WOAAAAAH SHE HATES ME.” Even after changing her eyes to a beautiful pair of ED Milky #42, she was still mean. Like she wanted to scratch up all my things. I’d also ordered an extra pair of hands so she can look like she’s waving sometimes (omg so kyuut), and well. She looked like she was about to hit me. She’s definitely not what I was expecting and I love it. She’s short and dainty compared to my clunky JID, and looks kind of like an underfed, scrawny homeless kid. It’s AWESOME. She has such character.
The detail in the Minifee body is also impressive, especially in the hands, and compared to a JID body that desperately needs to be restrung, the posing is just so ASFLFAL!!! ♥ She can slouch all over the place and it gives her such a personality. So expressive! I also love how it makes my wee Iplehouse girl look really prim in comparison since she can’t do as much. They may have a ridiculous company name, but Fairyland are incredibly talented.
(No photos because she’s blank right now and looks like an alien, but soon~!)
Yes that’s right. My Minifee Chloe’s arrived, but it’s pictures of Blair that go on the internet.
This tinybear mohair wig was bought as an option for this Minifee Chloe. It’s the softest thing I’ve ever touched. If you had a cat made of marshmallows, it would feel like this wig.
Too bad it arrived a day after the Minifee did and it doesn’t fit with her new ~personality~. Chloe has already stolen the Unoa’s chocobrown wig. So the mohair wig doesn’t suit the Chloe at all. It doesn’t. Even without a faceup she looks sharp and fierce in Leekeworld chocobrown and that gorgeous part of her character disappears underneath all the mohair.
But I’m not writing about her, am I.
A couple of days after stuffing this wig in a drawer, I realised I hadn’t tried it on Blair yet. For Science. And well, I didn’t expect her to look so precious with fluffy hair. SHE’S SO FLUFFYYYYY.
YEAH GURRL WERK IT.
Those antlers were also meant for the Minifee; she was going to wear minty green mori girl clothes and look like she was frolicking in a forest until BAM I KIDNAPPED HER. I’ve been looking at these since last year, but put off buying them because … don’t only male animals have antlers…, but as I was buying a few other things from Leekeworld, I went for it. The antlers don’t suit the new Chloe either, but I’ve always loved them on Blair. She can be slightly intersex or androgynous or something, hah! I also really want to make a note of how wonderful Leeke resin is. It’s grainier than Iplehouse or Fairyland resin, like an eggshell. They feel so nice.
She suits this colour, but Blair has got to keep the pink hair. In fact, I sold it instantly DOA, so one day I’ll order a candy pink version for her wig collection. I’m kinda gonna miss this wig!
My first exam in over a year..
I have one exam on the 20th and nothing to do until then but study. Sometimes I think “NOOO I HATE EVERYONE WHO DOESN’T HAVE EXAMS“, but as I’m trying to figure out what a Re Denley-style trust is compared to a charitable one (one has identifiable beneficiaries whereas the other doesn’t, even though they’re both geared towards a “purpose” rather than actual beneficiaries? Who even knows), I can’t help thinking “CAN THIS BE MY JOB PLEASE“. The no-longer-resentful corner of my brain then tries figuring out possible logistics of getting a job that’d pay for me to stay at university foreverrrr without needing a student loan. Mother despairs at my new life plan.
On withdrawing from escitalopram
Per doctor’s orders, I’m down to a half a pill. Online I often see people really struggling to get off antidepressants, but um. Nope. Overall feeling better, clear-headed and motivated. Weirdest thing, which may or may not be coincidental, is my haunted index finger. I can feel the tendons flexing without me telling them to and it twitches! :O
I make macarons with a hefty amount of Fail
Cuuuurse these picturesque things that look so simple to make. First batch were radioactive-yellow puffy meringues and they were delicious, but unworthy of the name macarons. In the second attempt, I beat the air out of the mixture and thus had green watery pancakes oozing across the baking trays. If you are Maxine and remember last year’s biscuit disaster, this was worse (!). I then accidentally left them in the oven too long, so they turned out crispy with the colours of a muddy swamp. If I ever perfect this I swear there’ll be photographic proof!
The Unoa Lusis faceplate
As in, I bought one. I don’t even know why because Unoas tend to frustrate me – they have such a potential for cute, but they have dopey eyelids. I’m going to try and get the cute juuust right by sandpapering the eyelids away (my own eyes cringe reading that sentence out of context). As for the body – I think it can share a body with ze incoming Minifee (modding and hybridding! I am a pro). Hooray, army of MSD ladies~
Good luck peoples with exams! And if you’re second year law and feeling smug about no exams, start preparing your notes for the end of the year – you’ll hate yourself if you don’t~! ♥
I’ve changed up my Iplehouse Tania’s look since she was last featured here and OH MY GOSH SHE’S SO PRETTY.
If I can’t have cats or fish in Dunedin then I shall collect house plants, and Mum bought me this cyclamen when we visited a farmer’s market in Oamaru. It’s held in this old Victorian warehouse and the people were so cheerful – one woman couldn’t stop raving to us about the perfection of these chocolate eclairs and how she comes every week to buy one.
After a doctor’s appointment on Monday, I’m at home now and starting to wean myself off my meds (they’ve been making me too blah for liiiifeee!). Hanging out here while I study for exams… of which I have one, hee. I’m very very excited – both for semester holidays and not having to worry about little white pills anymore.
…But back on topic
It’s hard to find quality clothes in the style I like, let alone clothes without exorbitant shipping prices. JIDs in particular are tricky because with their wide shoulders and hips they’re quite “chunky” (read: more realistically proportioned) compared to other BJDs. So who knew Plume Blanche, which is aimed at slim MSDs, would also fit JIDs!? I will have to find something else for that incoming Minifee lololol poverty forever.
Since getting her head back from Andreja, I’ve been intent on getting her new eyes – the bright blue ones shouted over her faceup’s pinky lavendery tones. Months of waiting later, my order for Enchanted Doll eyes has finally arrived! I do wonder what my housemates think of me, seeing as I get so many parcels with customs forms marked “doll goods”. OH HOOO I’M SO COOL. I ordered two pairs – 12mm Milky #42 and 10mm ED #33. The 12mm ones are breathtaking, like shimmery mint, but alas! they don’t work for her. I keep prising the box open anyway and admiring them and ACK I’m so annoyed I have nothing to use them for. Can I pluck out my own eyes and replace them with these please.
As for the new eyes, they were meant for a JID Asa I was once going to buy (and may still buy one day in the very distant future – just in a different resin colour than originally planned, wahahaha). Disappointingly dull and piddly little things, I didn’t expect them to suit her so well. Even though these eyes are a smaller size, I keep thinking, OH MY GOD HER EYES ARE HUGE.
Her new eyes were also a convenient excuse to experiment with a few wigs in my possession! I’ve collected pink wigs in the hopes of one day being able to live vicariously through a doll with pink hair. Her face is so heartshaped now, and ditching the fringe has her look older too. It’s crazy how changing eyes and hair can change a doll’s appearance so dramatically, although honestly, this is all just a wordy way of saying LAFKSJFDSALKJ PINK HAIR!!! ♥ ♥
PS. This is what happens to your hits when Andreja finds your blog post about her and links it to her Facebook. :O
PPS. I can’t stop playing with her pink hair, omg.
