BJD updates and pink hair

Iplehouse JID Tania

I’ve changed up my Iplehouse Tania’s look since she was last featured here and OH MY GOSH SHE’S SO PRETTY.

Iplehouse JID Tania, cyclamen plant

If I can’t have cats or fish in Dunedin then I shall collect house plants, and Mum bought me this cyclamen when we visited a farmer’s market in Oamaru. It’s held in this old Victorian warehouse and the people were so cheerful – one woman couldn’t stop raving to us about the perfection of these chocolate eclairs and how she comes every week to buy one.

After a doctor’s appointment on Monday, I’m at home now and starting to wean myself off my meds (they’ve been making me too blah for liiiifeee!). Hanging out here while I study for exams… of which I have one, hee. I’m very very excited – both for semester holidays and not having to worry about little white pills anymore.

…But back on topic

It’s hard to find quality clothes in the style I like, let alone clothes without exorbitant shipping prices. JIDs in particular are tricky because with their wide shoulders and hips they’re quite “chunky” (read: more realistically proportioned) compared to other BJDs. So who knew Plume Blanche, which is aimed at slim MSDs, would also fit JIDs!? I will have to find something else for that incoming Minifee lololol poverty forever.

Since getting her head back from Andreja, I’ve been intent on getting her new eyes – the bright blue ones shouted over her faceup’s pinky lavendery tones. Months of waiting later, my order for Enchanted Doll eyes has finally arrived! I do wonder what my housemates think of me, seeing as I get so many parcels with customs forms marked “doll goods”. OH HOOO I’M SO COOL. I ordered two pairs – 12mm Milky #42 and 10mm ED #33. The 12mm ones are breathtaking, like shimmery mint, but alas! they don’t work for her. I keep prising the box open anyway and admiring them and ACK I’m so annoyed I have nothing to use them for. Can I pluck out my own eyes and replace them with these please.

Iplehouse JID Tania

As for the new eyes, they were meant for a JID Asa I was once going to buy (and may still buy one day in the very distant future – just in a different resin colour than originally planned, wahahaha). Disappointingly dull and piddly little things, I didn’t expect them to suit her so well. Even though these eyes are a smaller size, I keep thinking, OH MY GOD HER EYES ARE HUGE.

Her new eyes were also a convenient excuse to experiment with a few wigs in my possession! I’ve collected pink wigs in the hopes of one day being able to live vicariously through a doll with pink hair. Her face is so heartshaped now, and ditching the fringe has her look older too. It’s crazy how changing eyes and hair can change a doll’s appearance so dramatically, although honestly, this is all just a wordy way of saying LAFKSJFDSALKJ PINK HAIR!!! ♥ ♥

PS. This is what happens to your hits when Andreja finds your blog post about her and links it to her Facebook. :O
PPS. I can’t stop playing with her pink hair, omg.

that’s a tania? looks like tatiana xD but i’m so used to looking at MY tania i can’t even tell anymore :P she’s beautiful!

Jenny – Thank you! :) It’s hilarious how people on DOA thought she was a Tatiana too. She’s very definitely a Tania in person, she has those pouty lips. :P

Oh, wow, she’s beautiful <3 And you're a Dunediner! I was born there, but now I'm stuck in Whangarei, where there are literally no doll collectors to be found, I swear.

I'm saving for a Tatiana, and I've never even seen a ball jointed doll before!

I really want to make her some pretty clothes for her arrival but as I don't have a doll – and I swear no-one seems to make patterns for JID sizes – it's proving to be tricky O_O

I'm Kthulhu42 on DOA, by the way :) I found you by searching for JID – Patterns :D

Thanks! Ackk, I know! We’re so isolated. :( I get super excited when I find someone else in NZ.
Ahhh, Tatiana is <3~ I hope you like her! Tania was the first BJD I ever saw in person – found she was taller and heavier than expected. You know you’re not getting a Barbie, but it’s still surprising anyway. :P
Totally know what you mean by JIDs being hard to shop for – it’s especially frustrating when it’s your first doll too, since you can’t buy ALL the pretty clothes you see without having to agonise over whether they’ll fit. :P Best of luck finding patterns! I’m sorry I don’t have any on here – I am definitely no seamstress, hehe.
I’m Becka on DOA! :) Did I just reply to a message from you on Tumblr?

Yes, two in fact :D I also got over excited when I saw someone in my birthtown had a Tania, especially as she was my second choice!

They are similar sculpts, I think they are supposed to be sisters..

Apparently there is going to be a BJD meet up in Auckland sometime around October, can’t wait!

One of my tumblr friends has a Tania too, she’s making a paper cast of the torso for me so I can make some of my own patterns before my doll arrives. I’d like to have my own etsy store but I hate the idea of pricing my own doll clothes, some of the stuff on etsy is a bit overpriced, and some is underpriced!

I friended you on DOA and followed you on tumblr. *Stalking doll people*

One question! Where did you get that wig?! :P I’ve been looking for one for my girl but can’t find a good one.

Luts! :) Not much of a colour range, but hopefully there’ll be something there that you’ll like!
