Layout, layout, layout
SUP IT’S A NEW LAYOUT. Therefore I have to write all I can about it (a crucial part of my layout-making journey), look at me go. Never mind that I put it up ages ago – this post is just as old. ;D
- This didn’t take as long as the previous one, which took weeks of experimenting until I had a basic idea of what I wanted (my imagination sucks). This time I had it sorted on the second day, only needing to work on the details.
- I love typography, fonts, words. My favourite layouts are the ones that make the most of these pretty things, and I guess that influences my own approach. Whooo, playing with fonts~ It’s pretty convenient since the extent of my Photoshop skillz is adding thousands of grungy brushes to a photo, as is the way edgy teenagers makes layouts (and St Margaret’s hoodies, it seems). I’m so surprised it’s still trendy among the young’ns.
- CCS3~! Woaaah, the highlight of mid-semester break was discovering CSS3. To be able to make rounded corners without reverting to thousands of images and divs! Exciting. I’ve done a few other things using CSS3 on this layout, but since not all browsers appear to support CSS3, I made sure not to do anything too drastic.
- It took an hour to sort out the Twitter thing on the sidebar, and I almost gave up on it screaming, “TWITTER CAN DIE IN A FIRE”…. but I’m too stubborn for that.
- I don’t think there’s enough contrast, and this layout is hell when you’re trying to view it in a sunny room. Ha ha. Accessibility standards, what are those?
